Serbia and Romania plan to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the construction of the Djerdap 3 (Iron Gate III) pumped storage power station on the Danube River as soon as possible, Minister of Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, announced after her phone call with Minister of Energy of Romania, Ivan Bogdan.

The construction of this pumped storage power station can enhance the stability of power systems, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the regional energy grid, and provide solutions for seasonal energy storage, benefiting both parties.

The Serbian minister also mentioned among the topics the gas interconnection between Serbia and Romania, which should be completed in the next two and a half years. A technical agreement was signed between the gas companies, Srbijagas and the Romanian Transgaz, and through this route, we will connect to the BRUA gas pipeline and gas deposits in Romania.
