Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore stormed to a lifetime best and her first-ever sub-11 clocking in the women’s 100m at the Serbia Athletics Meeting on Thursday, producing a blistering 10.94 seconds (0.7 m/s) to claim victory.

    Moore, who has shown consistent form throughout the season, got out strongly from lane five and maintained her composure to hold off Switzerland’s Salome Kora, who clocked a season-best 11.15 for second. Finland’s Lotta Kemppinen was third in 11.25, while fellow Jamaican Krystal Sloley took fourth in 11.28.

    There was also success for Jamaica in the field, as two-time World Indoor Championships silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd claimed victory in the women’s shot put. Thomas-Dodd produced a best throw of 19.04m on her fifth attempt to secure top spot ahead of Finland’s Emilia Kangas, who threw a personal best of 18.42m, and Portugal’s Eliana Bandeira, who managed 18.20m.

    In the men’s 100m, South Africa’s Tsebo Matsoso won in 10.08 (0.9 m/s) ahead of compatriot Retshiditswe Mlenga, who ran 10.20. American Jaylen Slade was third in 10.25. Guyana’s Emmanuel Archibald finished fourth in 10.30, followed by Jamaica’s Micheal Campbell in 10.36, while Julian Forte of Jamaica placed sixth in 11.91.

    Archibald also contested the men’s long jump, finishing second with a best of 7.73m, behind Australia’s Chris Mitrevski, who leapt 8.08m. Germany’s Kevin Brucha was third with 7.66m.
