A member of the public fired two shots inside the offices of the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) on Friday. Police say nobody was injured in the incident.
A man fired two shots on the first floor of NAV’s offices at St. Hanshaugen in Oslo on Friday, media in Norway including broadcaster NRK report.
Police say nobody was injured in the shooting.
“He came in, took out a pistol and fired two shots,” police officer Svein Arild Jørundland, who was one of the responders at the scene, said to NRK.
A man reported to be in his thirties has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A large police presence was at the location shortly after the shots were fired, with both the shooter and the weapon quickly brought under police control.
NAV employees were present at the time of the shooting but no-one was injured. The direction in which the shots were fired is currently unclear.
Police were working to secure the scene and assist NAV staff as of Friday afternoon. Forensic investigation will be carried out at the scene.

“The employees are affected by the incident and police and health representatives are in dialogue now about how to help them,” Jørundland told NRK at the scene.
They will also be offered assistance internally by NAV, the broadcaster writes.
Jørundland said he could not give any further detail about the incident at the current time.
The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) is Norway’s public welfare agency, responsible for areas including social services and benefits.
