Disney Devastates Fans By Canceling Popular Streaming Series After Just Two Seasons originally appeared on Parade.

It’s been seven month long months since audiences last saw the popular Disney+ series, Goosebumps, deliver its second season.

Sadly, according to Disney’s recent decision to not move forward with the series, it also seems that Season 2 will also happen to be Goosebumps’ last.

Based on the popular young adult horror series by R.L. Stine, Goosebumps also marked the second TV adaptation of Stine’s books, following the cult favorite 1995 TV series that ran for four seasons on Fox Kids.

While its television predecessor became known for delivering succinct spooky tales with each new episode, 2023’s Goosebumps abandoned the weekly anthology approach of its precursor, focusing instead on a single self-contained story over the course of each new season.

Featuring Justin Long in Season 1 and David Schwimmer in Season 2 (subtitled The Vanishing), Goosebumps premiered on Disney+ on October 13, 2023.

Despite each season earning mostly positive reviews from critics, the media company decided not to green-light another installment of the younger adult-oriented horror series, leaving fans of the series unsurprisingly heartbroken.

Disney’s 2023 version of Goosebumps is among the more recent adaptations of R.L. Stine’s best-selling book series. Spanning well over 200 books, many of Stine’s novels have found their way into various other forms of media, including video games, comic books, television shows and two mainstream films.

Along with its 1995 television show, the books notably formed the basis for a 2015 horror comedy starring Jack Black. The finished film won an assortment of positive reviews from critics, with many praising its approachable storyline, buoyant humor and overarching odes to its larger source material.

A sequel to the 2015 film, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, followed in 2018, albeit with Black in a much smaller uncredited role. At the time of its release, the sequel earned mixed reviews, seemingly derailing any chance for a third film in the series.
