CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC career home run and RBI leader Kristen Brown and single-season RBI leader Kat Rodriguez were both named to the Sports Illustrated All-Quarter-Century Team this afternoon.
One of the best Tar Heel hitters of all-time, Brown was a two-time All-American earning third team honors in 2015 and first team honors in 2016. She holds the career program record for home runs (66) which is also the ACC record, RBI (204), total bases (469), slugging percentage (.714). She was Patterson Medal winner and was the first Tar Heel to earn a place in the USA Softball program.
Rodriguez’s one season in Chapel Hill was one of the best single seasons in program history, her 83 RBI shattered the previous record of 68 and tied the ACC record. She accounted for 57 runs which is tied for second most in a single season. She ranks sixth in hits with 77, ninth in total bases with 119, and 12th in doubles with 15. She hit .435 which was the fourth best in program history. She brought home D1Softball and Softball America First Team All-America honors and NFCA Third Team All-America honors. She set the ACC record with four Player of the Week awards.
