This forest looks so bare and empty I can barely call it a forest. It seems unnatural; manufactured. Cultivated.
Why, oh why did it have to be pine? Couldn’t they mass-plant oaks or linden trees?

After the WW2 Poland forests where left devestated both by german occupation, soviet one and the post war push to rebuild Poland. In an effort to rebuild the afforestation quickly the communist goverment of Poland chose to plant trees that grow the quickest and can be cut down in 20-40 years. This plan worked as we can see and nowadays efforts are made to push back against that monoculture but this is hard considering what a profitable business treeloging is.
Pine are easy to plant, they grow quite “fast” and dont require good ground. Also if you plant them close to each other, they start to compete for sunlight… With that they grow do tall and branchesless.
And well… Planks from such trees maybe not beat quality that all trees could offer, but they are long, cheap and good enough.
