Serbia did not face serious competition against Cyprus. Simply put, the two teams are worlds apart, so it’s no surprise the result was so decisive.
After the game, Vanja Marinkovic admitted he expected more from the opponent, and emphasized that the key for the upcoming period is for Serbia to work on defense to be best prepared for the start of the EuroBasket.
“Yesterday was a good test, and today was a bit weaker than we expected, but again, we played with a bit more contact to feel the FIBA refereeing. We played well and are preparing for Munich,” said Vanja Marinkovic to Sportal.
The captain of Partizan believes the team still has room to improve, especially in defense, which according to Marinkovic’s view, is not at the highest level.
“We need to work on defense, it wins championships. Offense is never a problem. Just good communication,” concluded the Serbian national team player.
As a reminder, Serbia is participating in the tournament in Munich alongside Czech Republic, Turkey, and Germany.
