ASH: North Macedonia, a NATO member, cannot be a ground for dubious investments with Serbian connections!

The Alliance for Albanians expresses deep concern about the facilitation of the acquisition of SBB by Alta Banka, an institution closely linked to the Belgrade government and internationally sanctioned individuals.
“This is a serious threat to the financial stability, security and Euro-Atlantic orientation of North Macedonia.”
The role of the government coalition partner, VLEN, is as always weak and irresponsible – it is neither questioned nor reacts to such strategic decisions, paving the way for destabilizing influences that conflict with our national interests.
“It is a known fact that Alta Banka is part of an economic group controlled by individuals close to Vučić’s government and the network of Serbian and Russian influence in the region, a network that seeks to directly influence decision-making and institutions in North Macedonia,” the Ministry of Justice reacts.
It is further stated that the silence of the Governor of the Central Bank and the security bodies makes this process even more dangerous.
“EU reports and NATO concerns about the penetration of external influences are well-documented. North Macedonia cannot become a strategic point for the spread of Serbian-Russian influence, especially in the financial sector.”
Our demands are clear. We demand the immediate termination of the process of purchasing SBB by Alta Banka, as well as urgent legal changes that prohibit investments by internationally sanctioned persons or entities.
It is essential to strengthen transparency and control over the banking sector, to block capital linked to hostile foreign networks, but also to inform and involve international partners in monitoring the situation.
The Alliance for Albanians demands the isolation of any political and economic ties that favor the interests of Serbia and Russia in the country’s strategic sectors.
“The Alliance for Albanians remains committed to protecting the sovereignty, security and Euro-Atlantic orientation of North Macedonia,” the Alliance for Albanians responds. (INA)
