Ambassador Meidani: The Ohrid Agreement, the cornerstone of the modern state of North Macedonia

Skopje has marked the 24th anniversary of the Ohrid Agreement, which ended the 2001 conflict and laid the foundations of a multiethnic state. Albania’s ambassador to North Macedonia, Denion Meidani, in a public statement described the document as one of the most defining moments in the country’s political history.
“24 years of peace, coexistence and building a state for all. The Ohrid Agreement is not just a memory of the past, but a daily commitment to a European, inclusive and sustainable future,” Meidani wrote.
He emphasized that today, more than ever, the Agreement must be respected, implemented, advanced and protected as a common value for peace and coexistence.
