Marabu Airlines continues to develop its Southern European route network through the introduction of a new direct flight from Albrecht Dürer Airport in Nuremberg, Germany, to Kavala, a seaside town in Macedonia. The service, launched on August 1, 2025, takes place twice a week, providing tourists with access to the beaches, azure waters, and rich culture of Kavala.
Marabu Airlines Launches New Flight Between Nuremberg and Kavala, Macedonia
Paul Fabian, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Marabu Airlines, expressed that the new service is more than just an addition of a destination. “This new route to Kavala isn’t just about adding a destination – it’s about strengthening connections and serving our customers,” Fabian said. This route offers travelers the chance to experience Macedonia’s stunning coastline while also fostering stronger cultural and historical ties between Nuremberg and Kavala.
A Strong Connection Between Nuremberg and Kavala
The city of Nuremberg has a long-standing connection to Kavala, with approximately 15,000 residents of Greek heritage, many of whom originally hail from Kavala. The new direct flight strengthens these ties, bringing families and communities closer together, while also opening up new opportunities for tourism and cultural exchange. This direct link will make it easier for residents and visitors to maintain strong bonds across borders, particularly during peak travel seasons.
To mark the inauguration of the new route, Marabu Airlines hosted a special event featuring Greek dance, local hospitality, and speeches from the mayors of Nuremberg and Kavala. The event also celebrated the 25-year partnership between the two cities, highlighting the long-standing relationship between the regions and the importance of the new flight in further enhancing this connection.
