Rohde: Take the EU draft to the Constitutional Court, and I am convinced that Kosovo will be in the CoE

The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, has stated that Kosovo has lost the opportunity to join the Council of Europe this year.

In an interview for the Info Magazine show on Klan Kosova, he stressed that Kosovo institutions should have sent the draft statute of the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities to the Constitutional Court — a key step towards membership in this European organization.

Rohde stated that sending the draft for review to the Constitutional Court would be a necessary first step to move forward in this process, for which he remains optimistic.

“We have said: as soon as this first step is taken, by sending it to your court (the Constitutional Court) for review, we will 100 percent respect the Court’s decision. We will have an extraordinary meeting at the Council of Europe and we will push for membership, and I am convinced that Kosovo will pass,” Rohde said.
