A new National Geographic series for Disney+ about Pompeii has started filming in Malta.
Visiting the film set at Fort Ricasoli, culture minister Owen Bonnici said this production showed Malta has become “a serious and established destination in the field of film making”.
Around 65 per cent of all production of the documentary series, entitled “Surviving Pompeii”, will be filmed in Malta in various locations including Villa Bologna, Fort Ricasoli and Park tal-Majjistral. Some 167 Maltese people, in various sectors, have been employed on the production.
The British production consists of three episoes of approximately 60 minutes each and benefited from the cash rebate programme.
