    1. There’s no one from Poland among them. Neither Prime Minister Donald Tusk nor President Karol Nawrocki flew to the United States. Isn’t this a failure of Polish diplomacy? asked host Marcin Fijołek.

“Poland is a medium-sized country. It doesn’t have the international clout of Germany or the United Kingdom. However, the president of Finland has become friends with Trump,” Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski told “Graffiti” when asked about the lack of a Polish delegation at the summit in Washington, where Volodymyr Zelensky will be speaking with Donald Trump. “That’s not a problem,” he argued.

Bartoszewski tried to convince that the lack of Polish representatives in Washington “is not a problem.” “De facto, decisions will be made in a narrow, American group. European representatives are not participating in the negotiations. They will have limited influence on reality. There, decisions are made by one person,” he said.

    2. When the topic is war, Poland shouldn’t be skipped. Right now the polish army is already bigger than Germanys and they are enlarging it, while Germany is struggling to keep their current size and were downsizing not so long ago.

But I do agree wity the Deputy Minister in that the european countries have nothing to say anyway. The decissions will be made by Washington and european governments will obey.

    3. If I have to read between the lines, in June Nawrocki said that he doesn’t currently support Ukraine’s accession to the EU. This is following the lead up to the general elections where PiS and Duda decided to make military support for Ukraine a political issue. One of the big discussion points is Ukraine’s ability to join the EU. The point is not if PiS, Nawrocki and Duda were right or wrong in their positions.

But I would suspect, the Ukrainians maybe don’t feel they want to take the risk of having someone who is close to Trump and not always friendly towards them as an interlocutor – especially when there is no track record of how he performs during high profile international meetings. This is potentially an existential meeting for Ukraine, so of course they will be risk averse. Poland has done a lot for Ukraine of course, but the personalities involved and words recently said also matter, and Ukraine is the main character in this so should do whatever they think maximizes their chances of success.

They will submit to russia for a ilusion of peace and they do not want Poland to protest their action.

    5. Nawrocki made not letting Ukraine into NATO a part of his campaign, trump doesn’t need Poland on this summit, Poland doesn’t need convincing to quit on Ukraine in his mind

So they will sort it out on their own and Poland won’t pay or participate in it? Cool

Too small? 😀 Look at the EU map, deputy minister. Its also a military superpower in Europe and the biggest helper of Ukraine

Good we don’t need to be there it’s after all war between US sphere of influence and Russia with hands of Ukraine and with oligarchs benefiting wanting to prolong it.

We did well so far to stay off it while obviously looking after our long term interest(making sure Ukraine doesn’t fall 100% in RUS hands. IMHO good move.
