Worrying increase in suicide cases in Kosovo, KMDLNj: Institutional response lacking

Within the last 48 hours, 6 people have lost their lives in Kosovo under suspicious circumstances, suspected of being suicides by firearm or hanging. The Committee for the Protection of Human Rights (KMDLNj) has described this as a serious alarm, criticizing the lack of preventive measures and research into the causes of this phenomenon.
According to the KMDLNJ, the main factors are the difficult economic situation, unemployment, lack of state support for citizens in crisis, as well as the social isolation of marginalized groups such as pensioners and war veterans.
The organization warns that by failing to provide adequate treatment and protection to citizens, the state is exposing them to a silent form of euthanasia. Urgent institutional action is required to protect the right to life and stop this tragic wave.
