Dear Worthington,
This is Kingstin Nguyen, current Worthington Crailsheim student representative for 2025-26.
It’s been one month in Germany, and it has been great. I barely even feel homesick. The Gerberts, my host family, gave me a warm welcome and created a banner by hand that said, “Welcome to Germany, Kingstin.”
In my one month I have learned and done a lot of things. For instance, I have been to a car museum and saw the Batmobile in person. I also went to many parades with my host family and saw a lot of performances at the cultural weekend. I have joined a boxing club that meets every Tuesday and Friday, and I run a 10K every Thursday with Axel, the committee president here in Crailsheim. I even signed up for the Crailsheim 10K in October.
My host family owns bees, so I have been getting firsthand experience helping collect honey and understand how to maintain a beehive. It’s funny to think I would allow myself to be surrounded with a lot of bees without any protection.
Timmo, my host dad, has everything you would ever need for anything; the man got a flamethrower. He even built his garden all by himself, and it took three years. Melanie, my host mom, is the kindest German person here in Crailsheim that I have met. She is always helping me learn German and taking me to places and helping me be out there with the community.
Lilli, my host sister, has really introduced me to a lot of her friends and I enjoy having Lilli around because she is always so supportive.
I have made a decent amount of friends and even went to the city of Stuttgart with them.
So Germany has been great, and I have done a whole bunch more that I can’t put in one letter.
Once again, thank you to everyone for allowing me to represent Worthington and giving me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Germany’s wonderful people and culture.
