A Colonie man is recovering after being brutally attacked in Germany.
According to a GoFundMe page set up online, the man’s name is John Rudat.
He was visiting his former host family in Germany, when he was stabbed while helping two young women who were being harassed, the page said.
Rudat received surgery in Germany for a deep facial wound.
He is the younger brother of a Schenectady police officer, and is currently preparing to become a paramedic.
