Amazon Ads specialist Deep Media has commenced operations in New Zealand, appointing Anna Walker as Country Lead as the country prepares for the launch of advertising on Prime Video.
Walker, who will be based in Christchurch, will be responsible for leading Deep Media’s efforts in supporting independent agencies and brands throughout New Zealand to access and utilise Amazon’s advertising offerings. With a background that includes senior strategy positions at organisations such as MediaWorks, Publicis and FCB, Walker brings extensive knowledge of the needs of both agencies and clients.
The company’s expansion coincides with the rollout of advertising on Prime Video, scheduled for 26 August 2025, marking a notable development in New Zealand’s media and advertising landscape.
Walker appointment
Walker said the introduction of advertising to Prime Video was set to change the country’s media landscape.
“Prime Video advertising represents a major shift in the New Zealand media landscape. The ability to combine premium streaming environments with Amazon’s first-party data and measurement capabilities opens up powerful opportunities for New Zealand brands. I’m excited to bring Deep Media’s proven expertise to the market.”
Deep Media was established in 2024 by former Amazon executives Paul Kent, Andrew Hammond and Blake Gorman. The company is a verified Amazon Ads partner and manages advertising campaigns across Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.
Company growth
The company reports that it has doubled in size over the past year. This growth has been attributed to increasing demand from advertisers keen to access Amazon’s exclusive inventory, first-party data and measurement tools.
Paul Kent, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Deep Media, said the New Zealand launch is designed to bridge the gap between Amazon and independent agencies in the country.
“Our goal is to be the leading conduit between Amazon and independent agencies and marketers in New Zealand. Combining our unique expertise working at Amazon with Anna’s deep local knowledge and experience, will ensure that NZ brands and agencies are able to unlock its full potential. There’s a real appetite for smarter, more accountable advertising, and Amazon is uniquely positioned to deliver on that.”
In New Zealand, Deep Media’s role will include connecting local advertisers with Amazon’s full suite of advertising channels. Alongside Prime Video, this includes platforms such as IMDB, Twitch and Amazon’s retail media platform.
Amazon Ads business
Amazon’s advertising business continues to expand, with global revenue reaching AUD $24 billion in the second quarter of 2025, a 23% increase compared to the previous year. In the region, Tourism New Zealand was recently recognised as the first national tourism board to conduct a campaign using Amazon Ads. The campaign utilised Prime Video, Twitch, and retail media channels to promote travel bookings through a custom Amazon storefront.
Andrew Hammond, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Deep Media, noted the potential for New Zealand brands to leverage the scale and capabilities of Amazon Ads.
“We’ve seen firsthand the impact Amazon Ads is having in Australia. With the right guidance, New Zealand brands can take full advantage of what Amazon now offers, from streaming to retail media and beyond.”
Deep Media manages campaigns and provides support to clients across multiple global regions, focusing on enabling advertisers to access Amazon’s platforms and data-driven advertising solutions.
