The China Cultural Centre in Malta is hosting a lecture on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on September 4 at 7pm. The lecture will be delivered by Yang Libai, director of the 20th China medical team to Malta and the Mediterranean Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Centre based in Paola.
Yang Libai, the director of the Mediterranean Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Centre in Paola. With a history spanning over 2,000 years, TCM continues to shape health and wellness practices worldwide. The lecture will introduce the Shanyang School of TCM, which is known as one of the three major regional TCM schools in Jiangsu, exerting significant influence in academic circles. Among its most remarkable contributions is the ‘Sancai Acupuncture Technique’, a unique method created by Cheng Xinnong, a leading figure of the Shanyang School.
The Sancai Acupuncture Technique, literally means ‘three talents acupuncture’. This term comes from classical Chinese philosophy, referring to heaven, Earth and humanity – the three fundamental forces that structure the universe and life itself.
This technique does not simply focus on inserting needles at acupuncture points. Instead, it integrates the cosmic balance of heaven, Earth and human energies into diagnosis and treatment.
Practitioners consider the patient’s condition in relation to natural cycles, environmental influences and the individual’s internal state. In this way, the treatment aims not only to address illness but also to restore harmony between the body and the greater universe.
During the lecture, attendees will gain insight into this technique, experience cupping therapy and enjoy traditional Chinese medicine tea.
The lecture will be held at the China Cultural Centre on 173 Melita Street, Valletta. Admission is free and open to all. Due to limited space, early registration is recommended via ccc2023education@gmail.com.
