The Arizona Cardinals set their 53-man roster on Tuesday, as all NFL teams were required to do. Some players were placed on waivers, some were released and immediately became free agents because they were not subject to waivers. They moved others to in-season reserves and activated one player.

But with how the Cardinals’ 53-man roster currently stands, it suggests at least one other move is coming.

It looks like two are possible.

Coming roster move No. 1: Justin Jones to IR

With long snapper Aaron Brewer getting released, we know another move is coming. The Cardinals need a long snapper.

They also used both injured reserve designations to return already on offensive lineman Christian Jones and Hayden Conner, so anyone else injured who the Cardinals want to be able to play this season had to be carried on the active roster at least one day.

Jones has been out with a knee injury for weeks. He will likely end up on injured reserve and be able to return at some point, opening up a spot for Brewer to be re-signed. Plus, they have seven defensive linemen on the roster. Six is normally the number they carry.

Possible roster move No. 2 – a CB trade

The Cardinals kept 11 defensive backs — six cornerbacks and five safeties. The five safeties make sense because of keeping both Joey Blount and Kitan Crawford, who are both good special teams players.

But six cornerbacks? It is uncertain who might have trade value. Perhaps Elijah Jones, a long, very athletic second-year player who has a lot of upside. Perhaps it is Kei’Trel Clark, who can play outside, inside, safety and on special teams.

It seems unlikely they would carry six cornerbacks on the roster.

So we will see.
