DUI: North Macedonia has never had a more anti-Ohrid Agreement government

The DUI, in a press release, says that North Macedonia has never had a government more anti-Ohrid Agreement, more anti-European integration, and more under the dictates of the Serbian world than the one leading the country today.

According to DUI, the public stances of government representatives against the Ohrid Agreement have been translated into practice.

“Saying that ‘it is time to abolish the Badinter majority’, one of the main pillars of the country’s constitutional order, is no coincidence. Unfortunately, every day more and more space is being given to political parties or politicians who have dangerous ideas and who think that multiethnic states are not functional, who are supporters of pure ethnic states. Such ideas and such ideologues are extremely dangerous, because they exacerbate interethnic relations and lead to their destruction.”

“We are witnesses that this government has an agenda to systematically attack the Ohrid Agreement, while this was proven by a series of actions, with the cancellation of the Balancer and the disrespect for fair representation, with the disrespect for the Albanian language and the law on the Albanian language, with the fact that VMRO-DPMNE requested that the Constitutional Court repeal the law on the Albanian language. At these moments, even though we have a law on the use of languages, over 100 institutions speak only one language.”

“Moreover, the government is unfairly reducing the number of councilors in municipalities, violating the real representation of Albanians, in violation of the Constitution, the Law on Local Self-Government and the decision of the Constitutional Court. At first, they did not respect the political will of Albanians, they elected those who Albanians rejected. Then they banned the use of the national flag by state officials. Next was the Albanian language. After that, they attacked the protective mechanism of fair representation and removed the balancer. Now we are reading how they want to remove the “Badenter” voting as well!”, say the DUI.
