Kosovo Police has provided some safety tips for children on their way to school.
According to a post on the social network Facebook by the Police, parents should plan the route with their children to school and teach them traffic signs.
“Plan the safest route with your children to school. Review street names and directions to avoid getting lost. Learn traffic signs together with your children – for example, play games to learn their meaning.”
The announcement further states that parents should teach their children to check their safety before crossing the road and not to wear headphones.
“Teach children to make sure vehicles have stopped before crossing the road. Eye contact with drivers is important. Remove headphones or hearing protection when walking – the sounds of traffic are warning signals. Make sure your child wears brightly colored or reflective clothing, especially on rainy or dark days.”
Police say that adults should be examples for children.
“Do not cross the road in unsafe places and always use the green pedestrian light at traffic lights or the white lines marked on the road. Avoid walking between parked cars – drivers may not see children crossing,” the post says, among other things. /Telegrafi/
