CEC clarifies postal voting procedures for citizens outside Kosovo

The 38-day deadline for registering voters outside Kosovo who wish to vote by mail in the local elections for mayors and municipal assemblies ended at midnight on Saturday. This procedure only applies to voters outside Kosovo who have registered to vote by mail.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi emphasized that the period for postal voting is limited and begins on September 17, ending on October 11. He also explained that in these elections there is no voting at diplomatic missions, but only by mail.

“The voting by mail period applies only to voters outside Kosovo who are registered to vote by mail in the period July 23 – August 29, 2025. Voting by mail will begin on September 17 and will end on October 11. So, according to the Law on General Elections, in Local Elections there is no voting at diplomatic missions, but only by mail,” Elezi declared.

He emphasized that the CEC will ensure that every voter abroad receives a package with two ballots, while it is everyone’s responsibility to send this package to the CEC mailboxes, which are located both abroad and in Kosovo. /RTK/
