CyBC will once again select its Eurovision 2026 representative through an internal selection. From the proposals already submitted by the biggest record labels in Greece and Cyprus, the artist who will represent the country in Vienna, at the 70th Anniversary Eurovision Song Contest, will be chosen internally.
How will the selection for Eurovision 2026 take place?
As we exclusively revealed, CyBC will once again internally select both the artist and the song that will represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2026, which will take place on May 12, 14 and 16 in Vienna, Austria.
This time, however, the process will be slightly different. According to our information, during the summer CyBC officially approached the three largest record labels operating in Greece and Cyprus, asking for their proposals regarding the Cypriot representation at Eurovision 2026.
Speaking with several of these record labels, we can confirm that all of them responded, putting forward well-known and experienced artists from their rosters, each aiming to secure the ticket to Eurovision under Cyprus’ flag.
No further details have been disclosed yet. However, it is very likely—based on past experience—that CyBC will make official announcements in the early autumn months.
Eurovisionfun reveals one of the proposals to CyBC
Despite recent rumors about a particular female artist who was supposedly already selected by CyBC, Eurovisionfun exclusively reveals one of the actual proposals submitted through the record labels, and unlike the rumored artist, she is indeed under consideration for representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2026.
Sofia Patsalides’ team confirmed to us that the 24-year-old talented singer-songwriter—who, as you may remember, represented Cyprus at Junior Eurovision 2014, finishing ninth and leaving an excellent impression—is among the proposals submitted to CyBC by the record labels.
She studied at Leeds College of Music in the UK. On December 16, 2018, the day of her 18th birthday, she released her debut album Everything I Ever Wanted.
Last year, she was one of the creators of Crystal Waters, Cyprus’ entry for Junior Eurovision 2024, a song that reached No. 1 on Viral Spotify Greece.
Her song Erase Your Heart was submitted to ERT for the Eurovision 2025 National Final, although it did not make it to the final stage.
For now, CyBC remains tight-lipped. According to our information, the shortlist of artists proposed by the record labels includes popular and established performers from various music genres, making the final decision a difficult one.
Eurovisionfun will continue to closely follow developments and keep you updated.
