Former Texas A&M tight end Martellus Bennett is breaking into the animation industry with a show set to premiere in 2025 on Disney. Bennett has always been one to forge his own path, maintaining a youthful spirit throughout his playing career and beyond.
One of his passions has always been art, and since his retirement, he has been involved in a range of activities, including writing screenplays, acting, and authoring various books.
One of his goals was to create content for youth that fosters their imagination, with one of his earliest projects being the creation of the Imagination Agency, where he published several books. He always had a dream of producing an animated series, and after a few years of planning, that dream appears to be coming true.
Earlier this month, Bennett announced via “X” that his show, Hey A.J.!, is based on his original children’s book that inspired the series. Hey A.J.! will debut on Disney Jr. and then Disney+, as noted in the post linked below.
Bennett will serve as one of the executive producers and will feature musical stars Jhené Aiko and Meghan Trainor as part of the cast. A.J. will be voiced by Amari McCoy (Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends). Hopefully, this leads to more opportunities in the future for Martellus to share his work with the world, but for now, we’ll all be tuning in to see the exciting adventures of A.J.
