Taco Bell, the iconic US fast-food chain, is officially opening its first restaurant in Greece on September 3, bringing its signature Mexican-inspired cuisine to the Athens suburb of Chalandri. The inauguration marks a significant step in the brand’s international growth strategy.
The Chalandri location is set to become a hotspot for food lovers seeking the chain’s unique blend of tacos, burritos, and other classic menu items. The company views the move as a crucial part of its expansion across Europe.
“Taco Bell’s entry into Athens is a decisive step in our development strategy in Europe,” said Ian Cranna, General Manager of Taco Bell Europe. “The Greek market is dynamic and offers a unique opportunity to bring our brand closer to new consumers.”
The new restaurant is the result of a partnership between Taco Bell and Food Plus, which is tasked with operating the chain in Greece.
Taco Bell experience in Greece, starting in Chalandri
“We are excited to bring the unique Taco Bell experience to Greece, starting in Chalandri. Our goal is to offer flavors that will be discussed and loved and to become a hot spot for all lovers of Mexican cuisine,” said Giorgos Tanes, CEO of Food Plus.
Ankush Tuli, CEO of Taco Bell International, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration. “By partnering with Food Plus, Taco Bell can bring its unique dining experience to new markets and continue to grow as a global brand,” he said. “This partnership will strengthen Taco Bell’s presence in Europe, solidifying our regional footprint while advancing our global growth ambitions.”
Taco Bell‘s menu is centered around items inspired by Mexican food, but with an American fast-food twist. Its most famous products include tacos (both hard-shell and soft-shell), burritos, quesadillas, nachos, and a variety of specialty items.
The chain is known for its value-driven menu and its innovative, limited-time offerings, often combining different items into new “cravings” boxes or mash-ups.
With a significant presence in the United States, Taco Bell has also expanded internationally, operating thousands of franchised restaurants in countries around the world.
Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., which includes KFC and Pizza Hut. Currently, there are over 1,000 franchises of the Mexican fast food chain in 31 countries outside of the United States.
