The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Kosovo has honored the legacy of renowned director Dhimitër Anagnosti by opening a book of condolences following his passing on September 1.

In his address, Albania’s ambassador to Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, stated that Anagnosti’s death is a major loss for Albanian culture and society.

“The Albanian society, filmmakers, actors, and the Albanian people have lost one of the greats—one of those who wove Albanian cinema. I knew him as a true methodist, as a school-trained director, fully dedicated to the art of filmmaking. I especially admired the extraordinary work he did with actors, but above all, we have lost the man who brought to the screen the complete character of the Albanian people. Through his films, he unraveled Albanian life in all its colors and managed to convey it brilliantly to the public. His films echoed powerfully,” said Malaj.

Dhimitër Anagnosti remains one of the most important figures of Albanian cinematography, highly regarded for works that reflected the life, character, and spirit of Albanians on the big screen.
With a career spanning 40 years, he directed 14 films, 10 documentaries, and wrote 15 screenplays, becoming a central figure who left behind a valuable legacy for Albanian art.
