Poland vs Bosnia and Herzegovina Preview
The Polish national team had a very solid group stage, finishing with a record of three wins and two losses. Victories came against Slovenia, Israel, and Iceland, while they closed the group with back-to-back defeats against France and Belgium. The loss to Belgium was particularly surprising, but in reality, it carried no real weight since Poland already knew before tip-off that they would finish second in Group D. In the end, they fell 70-69, with Emmanuel Lecomte hitting the game-winner for Belgium.
Jordan Loyd had his weakest performance of the tournament, finishing with just seven points on a poor 3/11 shooting. Still, his overall level of play so far gives Polish fans reason for optimism heading into the knockout rounds. As usual, Mateusz Ponitka has been excellent in the national team jersey, and together with Loyd he will represent Poland’s main strength moving forward. In addition, more is expected from Aleksander Balcerowski, who has had a modest tournament so far, but his improvement will be crucial for Poland’s chances.
Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to bounce back after a very rough start to EuroBasket, securing a place in the Round of 16 with two consecutive victories to close the group stage. Following heavy defeats to Spain and Italy, many questions were raised about the team, but the response was as strong as it gets. First, they pulled off a huge upset by defeating Greece, and then in a direct battle for survival against Georgia, they overcame the favored opponent 84-76 to book their ticket among the last 16.
As expected, Jusuf Nurkic led the way in that decisive win with 15 points and 12 rebounds. However, special praise should go to John Roberson, who joined the team just before the start of the tournament after Xavier Castaneda was ruled out. After a slow start, Roberson kept improving as the games went on, and in the decisive matchups against Greece and Georgia he was one of the best players on the floor, scoring 18 against the Greeks and 15 against Georgia. Edin Atić also deserves recognition, showing impact on both ends of the floor. Playing with great courage and a willingness to take responsibility, he has been alongside Nurkic one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most consistent performers.
Poland vs Bosnia and Herzegovina H2H
These two national teams have faced each other three times so far, and Poland has come out on top every time. Their most recent meeting was during the Olympic Qualifiers for Paris, where Poland claimed a 76-72 victory.
Injuries and Suspensions
Right before the start of EuroBasket, Bosnia and Herzegovina was left without Dzanan Musa and Xavier Castaneda, while they also failed to resolve the paperwork issues related to Luka Garza. In addition, team captain Miralem Halilovic is with the squad, but he has not played so far due to a hamstring injury. On the other side, Poland cannot count on their biggest star at this EuroBasket, Jeremy Sochan.
Where to Watch Poland vs Bosnia and Herzegovina?
Poland vs Bosnia and Herzegovina Best Betting Tip and Prediction
Poland suffered defeats in their last two group stage games, arriving to face Bosnia and Herzegovina with significantly shaken confidence. On the other hand, Bosnia and Herzegovina closed the group stage with two major victories, clearly seeing their opportunity in the matchup against Poland. The Poles no longer have home-court advantage and the support of their crowd, which is another factor why our suggestion is that Bosnia and Herzegovina will not lose by more than the given handicap.
