THEIR GREEK DONUT HOLES AND THEIR WITH HONEY, WALNUTS AND CINNAMON ON TOP. A SWEET TASTE OF GREECE, AMONG MANY OTHER AUTHENTIC DISHES LIKE THIS SLOW COOKED LAMB. IT’S IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW THE GREEK CULTURE, NOT ONLY BECAUSE THIS IS A GREEK CHURCH, BUT BECAUSE PEOPLE, A LOT OF PEOPLE, DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS, LIKE TO BE GREEK.     The annual Greek festival at Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton is underway, offering attendees a lively celebration of Greek culture with music, food and artisans. Abed Hanania, a dessert vendor at the festival, said, “It’s just like you’re in Greece but better.”Father Pete Sotiras of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “This is our biggest fundraiser for our church and to support our mission here.”Visitors can enjoy a variety of authentic Greek dishes, including sweet treats like Greek donut holes topped with honey, walnuts, and cinnamon, as described by Stephanie Bryant, who is making the desserts. The festival also features slow-cooked lamb and other traditional dishes.”It’s important for people to know the Greek culture, not only because this is a Greek church, but because people don’t understand what it means to be Greek and this is a perfect way to see the culture, the dancing, the traditions,” Hanania said. Festival-goers are even using creative methods to learn the Greek language, such as cheat sheets from a vendor’s shirt that translates some words from English to Greek. Little kids at the festival encouraged others to join in, saying, “You should go to the Greek festival.”Sostenes Tovar, who is enjoying the festival, invited everyone to attend, saying, “You got two more days to make it. Come on out. It’ll be fun.
