Croatia’s maritime police recorded 2,479 offenses along the Adriatic coast from June to August this year — almost 250 more than in the same period of 2024. The majority of cases involved speeding too close to shore, with foreign nationals making up the bulk of offenders.

A total of 2,338 people were reported for violations this summer, of which 1,644 were foreigners and 694 Croatian citizens. The highest number of cases was registered in Split-Dalmatia County (656), followed by Primorje-Gorski Kotar (519), reports Juginfo

More than 80% of all offenses (1,998) were maritime-related. The most common was illegal gliding, where speedboats or yachts travel faster than permitted within 300 meters of the coast, endangering swimmers and other vessels. Police recorded 1,384 such cases, making up over half of all violations.

Fines for this offense range from €400 up to €6,636. Other frequent infractions included passenger or cargo overloads, missing documents, and improper anchoring, with 446 cases logged this summer.
