MALTA, NY (WRGB) — An animal welfare complaint in Malta led to a man’s arrest, accused of cruelty to a dog.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office received an animal complaint Aug. 28, on Knabner Road.

Investigation found that Eugene R. Willis, 69, had kicked a black Labrador Retriever to its rear quarters resulting in bruising and difficulty with relieving itself.
The animal and a brown Labrador Retriever also at the residence were seized by the Malta animal control officer and transported to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter where they were safely housed and afforded appropriate medical treatment.
Willis was charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide sustenance (class A misdemeanor), and released on an appearance ticket pending further proceedings in the Malta Town Court.
