One of Switzerland’s main roads to be closed tonight

The heavily traveled Gotthard road tunnel will be closed to traffic from today until Friday, September 18, albinfo.ch reports.
It will be closed from 20:00 PM to 05:00 AM for routine maintenance work, which includes checking the road surface, ventilation and security systems.
The automotive organization TCS recommends a detour via the Gotthard Pass.
Those wishing to take longer routes can also use the San Bernardino Road (A13) or the Simplon Pass. However, these roads are expected to experience heavier traffic, especially during rush hour.
Gotthard closures are also planned for September 15 to 19, September 22 to 26, and September 29 to October 3.
