The United States announced today that it has indefinitely suspended the planned strategic dialogue with Kosovo due to concerns about the actions of Albin Kurti’s caretaker government. The US move prompted widespread criticism of the Kurti government.

Meanwhile, in an announcement of DASH In August, when Marco Rubio and Marko Djuric met, it was also announced that the two had agreed that the US and Serbia would hold a bilateral strategic dialogue later this year to deepen economic and security ties.

The announcement also notes that Rubio and Djuric discussed the importance of reducing tensions in the Western Balkans, especially with Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric. They agreed that the United States and Serbia will hold a bilateral strategic dialogue later this year to deepen economic and security ties. They also discussed the importance of reducing tensions in the Western Balkans, particularly with Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to advance regional stability and pave the way for economic growth and prosperity. The United States is committed to a mutually beneficial relationship with Serbia that serves our citizens and our interests,” the State Department said in a statement.
