Nurellari: Kurti sells himself as a flag bearer of democracy, latest report shows dramatic decline in Kosovo

PDK member Adri Nurellari said that according to the latest report on the state of democracy by the IDEA Institute, Kosovo has marked a decline in most indicators throughout 2024. He says that although Kurti describes himself as a champion of democracy, in practice the situation has worsened in almost every sphere, Express writes.

Nurellari says that with the exception of the rights category, which has an improvement of plus two points, Kosovo has suffered a dramatic decline in the rule of law, representation, and participation.

“According to the latest report “Global State of Democracy 2025” by IDEA Institute, Kosovo has marked a significant decline in most democracy indicators during 2024. This is a bitter paradox, if we consider that Albin Kurti sold himself as a standard-bearer of democracy, but in practice he is producing deterioration in almost every sphere of it.

“With the exception of a small improvement in the rights category (+2 points), Kosovo has suffered a dramatic decline in Rule of Law (-18), Representation (-6) and Participation (-8). So, while Kurti talks about democratic principles, in reality his governance is eroding the foundation of democracy and plunging Kosovo into institutional regression,” Nurellari wrote./Express/
