Serbian Lista launches campaign with inflammatory rhetoric, experts demand monitoring

At the first rally in northern Mitrovica, the Serbian List has started the campaign with calls for the liberation of Kosovo, and in support of Milan Radojčić. Security and political experts point out that the Serbian List is being directed by official Belgrade, so they call for monitoring of the campaign and observation of whether there is a basis for a criminal offense.
“Everyone for brother Milan.” This was one of the main slogans at the launch of the Serbian List election campaign, at last night’s rally in North Mitrovica. Milan Radojčić, whose name was chanted, remains wanted by law enforcement and justice authorities, accused of being the leader of the group in the terrorist attack in Banjska, in 2023, where police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
Also, the Pristina Court, since April of this year, has issued an arrest warrant against Radoicic and 19 other Serbs suspected of “war crimes during the last war in Kosovo.” Radoicic and the others will be tried on suspicion of having killed about 106 Albanian civilians in Gjakova and mistreated 300 other Albanians.
Unlike other rallies, the Serbian List rally began with the Serbian anthem, while the speeches of the party leaders did not focus on promises for the well-being of Kosovo Serbs in the north, but rather against the Kosovo government and the incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Those present were asked if they wanted freedom, which was followed by chants of “Atiq out”.
The slogans and language used in the Serbian List campaign were viewed with concern by experts in politics and security in the country.
They say that the Serbian List is being directed from Belgrade, which is why they asked for its campaign to be monitored.
“They are trying to bring back the parallel structures they have lost there at all costs. Those candidates must be thoroughly vetted and strictly monitored. We must not fall prey to them, we must observe them,” Jeton Maliqi, a political expert, told RTK.
“These calls in terms of security are worrying. The Srpska List is continuing the policy of directing from Belgrade and the contaminated establishment in Belgrade. So, to have control in that part of the four municipalities and to direct them as it has directed them before, with blackmail and various disinformation,” Arben Dashevci, a security expert, told RTK.
Despite efforts throughout the day, the television station failed to obtain an opinion from the Central Election Commission. Meanwhile, security experts are calling for the justice system to launch investigations if there is a basis for a criminal offense.
“This political party and all political parties that have a destructive approach towards the Republic of Kosovo will be monitored. It is up to the security and judicial authorities to take the final position on whether there is a basis for any criminal offense of incitement,” said Dashevci.
