Britain has summoned the Russian ambassador after violations of NATO airspace last week, the UK Foreign Office said on Monday.
The move follows a series of incidents involving Russian drones. On Wednesday, Poland shot down Russian drones in the first known NATO military action of its kind during the Ukraine war. Days later, Romania scrambled fighter jets after another Russian drone breached its airspace, News.Az reports, citing Reuters.
The incursions were “utterly unacceptable,” a Foreign Office spokesperson said, adding that the UK stood united with NATO allies in condemning Russia’s “reckless actions.”
“Russia should understand that its continued aggression only strengthens the unity between NATO allies and our determination to stand with Ukraine. Any further incursions will again be met with force,” the spokesperson warned.
Russia’s embassy in London has not yet commented.
