ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority’s Explore Asheville is set to make another major sports announcement later this week, according to a Sept. 15 press release.
The announcement is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at a news conference in a downtown Asheville hotel.

The Explore Asheville release said it will mark a “milestone moment” for Asheville’s sports, travel, and hospitality community.
It comes less than a month after the announcement that the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) men’s and women’s outdoor track championships are coming to UNC Asheville in 2026 and 2027.
