KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A new passport is set to take community members on a tour through Kansas City’s Black-owned Arts & Entertainment venues.

Kansas City G.I.F.T. has announced that a new passport has made its way to the metro – ‘Vibe The City,’ the first Black-owned Arts & Entertainment passport.

Organization leaders noted that the new passport features venues across the metro, provides recommendations and allows diners to rate each experience.

According to KC G.I.F.T., this is a continuation of an initiative to encourage community members to explore local Black-owned businesses.

In February 2025, the group created the ‘Savor the City’ Black-owned dining passport to encourage patrons at Kansas City restaurants. The new passport is a step further in that it focuses on arts and entertainment.

“It is important for us to continue to identify innovative ways that we can drive support to Black owned businesses in a way that fosters economic equity, and KC G.I.F.T. remains dedicated to supporting Black-owned businesses through aggressive funding and support,” said Brandon Calloway, CEO/Co-Founder of Kansas City G.I.F.T. “As a community, it is up to us to actively create the world we want to see. This passport offers a fun and engaging way for people to take action on that and make a difference by supporting local Black entrepreneurs.”

Calloway noted that the new passport includes organizations like the Mutual Musicians Foundation, the Jazz Museum and In Good Company, to name a few.

Both passports can be picked up at the G.I.F.T. Business Center, 5008 Prospect Ave., as well as select restaurants.
