Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi has denied the news published by journalist Furkan Saliu about the former’s visit to Belgrade.

Below is the full text of Gashi’s denial.

“Regarding the accusations presented in a show on social media, we emphasize that the content is tendentious, full of inaccuracies and clearly aims to distort the facts and manipulate public opinion.”

More specifically, the trip of October 27, 2024 was not a visit to Belgrade, as falsely claimed, but a visit to Presevo. So far, no journalist or media outlet has asked any questions about this issue, which only confirms the unprofessional and unethical nature of the publication.

We also remind you that every journalist knows that the Speaker of the Parliament, according to the law, is obliged to be under constant surveillance by the MIA security service. Presenting this legal obligation as a “sensation” is a tendency to deceive the public and an irresponsible act.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi, continues to carry out his responsibilities with full transparency and institutional commitment. No manipulation can diminish the work of the Speaker of the Assembly, while the Assembly remains open, accountable and dedicated to serving the citizens.

“Cabinet of the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia,” wrote the Speaker of the Parliament, Afrim Gashi, on Facebook.
