Christus Heath has unveiled a new simulation center in Beaumont to give clinicians hands-on experience in real-life healthcare scenarios.
The Christus Health Simulation Center at St. Elizabeth hospital was introduced Wednesday during an event with doctors and other representatives. The center provides a safe and controlled environment where caregivers can strengthen their skills, enhance teamwork and prepare to deliver high quality care to patients.
Dr. Heather Delaney, system medical director for simulation and research, introduced the center during Wednesday’s event. It’s a training environment designed to support clinical teams across emergency rooms, intensive care units, and labor and delivery settings.
The center includes five specialized rooms and high-fidelity mannequins that simulate a wide range of medical conditions. Delaney shared examples of how teams prepare for high-risk, low-frequency events like emergency C-sections, ensuring readiness and rapid response when lives are at stake.
Creating the simulation center began with an initial $50,000 investment from the Children’s Miracle Network Making Miracles Happen Fund. The Christus Southeast Texas Foundation raised nearly $1.3 million in total, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the Valero Benefit for Children, the DuJay Charitable Foundation and proceeds from the annual gala held in Beaumont.
