The only rail link between Portugal and Spain will be restored in full this December. Portuguese state operator CP plans to bring back a direct service between Porto and Vigo, avoiding the current need for passengers to change trains at Viana do Castelo. Although the track is electrified, CP will continue using diesel trains.
