Former American diplomat James Rubin, who testified in favor of former President Hashim Thaçi in The Hague a few days ago, in an interview with “Jehona politike” on Klan Kosova commented on the words of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, in which the latter criticized the Special Court for “Thaci is its political hostage.”

Rubin said that considering the many years of indictment, in his opinion, it would be easier and more reasonable for Thaçi to be protected from freedom.

“I say this because when he was president and when there was an indictment, he did what he thought was best for the people of Kosovo, which was to surrender to the court.”

“Considering that it took many years for the indictment to turn into a real case, it would have been easier and more reasonable to protect himself from freedom with a bracelet on his leg or something else, because it was quite clear that he would not escape. The way Edi Rama called him is not that far from the facts,” Rubin said.

Furthermore, he also spoke about Kosovo, where he said that unlike other interventions that America has carried out in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya, Kosovo is a success story.

“I believe that Kosovo is an extraordinary moment in American history. In 1999, a magazine that has a fairly realistic opinion called it the “peak of Western and European civilization,” because America led by Albright and Clinton led the world in making a decision that was not easy, to force a peace agreement on the parties with a willingness to use military force, and that is the main point.”

“Step by step, Kosovo did what we all hoped it would do. It evolved into a successful democracy that was then recognized by the United States and most countries in the world. So, compared to other interventions that America has carried out, I’m sorry to say, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, this has been a success story and still is,” he said./klankosova
