Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is nearing its end, with just one game remaining in a jam-packed Sunday game slate.
The Houston Texans have officially started the season 0-3 with Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars, joining the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins. The New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs will look to avoid the same fate.

Since 1990, only four teams out of 162 have made the postseason after starting a season 0-3.
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers have all maintained their undefeated status coming out of Week 3.

A few of these afternoon slate matchups on Sunday featured some major quarterback star power, which kept the early game slate plenty interesting. Joe Burrow will miss at least the next three months’ worth of action with a turf toe injury, having undergone a successful surgery on Friday, with Jakre Browning starting in his place.

It was a rough start for Browning, who threw a pick-six on the second offensive drive of the game in Week 3, followed by another interception late in the third quarter. He threw three interceptions in Week 2 after entering the game in the second quarter following Burrow’s injury, making it five so far on the season.
Other veterans who got the start in Week 3 in place of injured quarterbacks include Carson Wentz, starting for Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy, out with an ankle injury, Tyrod Taylor in place of Justin Fields (concussion) and Marcus Mariota, who started in place of Jayden Daniels (knee).
Backup quarterbacks went 2-2 in the early window, with Wentz and Mariota nabbing wins, while Browning and Taylor each quarterbacked losing efforts — though the Jets did make it a close one. New York blocked a field goal with two minutes left in regulation, returned 50 yards by Will McDonald IV for a touchdown to take a 27-26 lead, but the Bucs managed the win with a 36-yard go-ahead field goal from kicker Chase McLaughlin.
In the afternoon window, Mac Jones made his second start with the San Francisco 49ers in place of Brock Purdy, who is dealing with a shoulder sprain and a case of turf toe suffered in Week 1. The Niners managed a 16-15 win over the Cardinals thanks to a walk-off 35-yard field goal from Eddy Piñeiro, who replaced former third-round pick Jake Moody after he was waived coming out of Week 1.

Unfortunately, Week 3 did yield plenty of injuries to star players worth monitoring moving forward, including wide receivers Mike Evans (hamstring) and CeeDee Lamb (ankle), running backs James Conner (ankle) and Najee Harris (Achilles) and star edge rusher Nick Bosa (knee).
