Çanak: Serbia today is run by criminals under Vučić’s personal control

Nenad Çanak, founder of the Social Democratic League of Vojvodina, has said that the current power in Serbia has been seized by criminals, who operate under the direct and non-institutional control of President Aleksandar Vučić.
“The executive power that he put under his feet was taken by criminals who are under the personal control of a handful of people, led by the current president,” declared Çanak, mentioning specific names such as Milan Radoićić and Zvonko Veselinović, who, according to him, do not need to be “proven” as criminals, because their actions are already known and documented.
He also highlighted the role of figures like Vojislav Seselj, whom he called a “retired war criminal”, who, despite having served his sentence in The Hague, today appears as a citizen with full rights and political influence.
“If this man has served his sentence, then let’s employ all convicted pedophiles in daycare,” Çanak said ironically in a conversation on the PIKË podcast, on KTV.
Using the example of how employment in the Serbian police works today, he illustrated the degradation of state institutions. According to him, people without any professional training, recruited by the BIA secret service with political recommendations from the SNS (Serbian Progressive Party), receive the highest ranks in the police within a few months.
“These people were selling cars in showrooms until yesterday,” he said, citing the case of a figure he called “the boss of the bigots,” who today holds the rank of senior officer and is accused of violent behavior and threats against arrested students.
In contrast to this reality, Çanak compared the current regime to that of Slobodan Milošević, saying that although the latter caused great damage and terrible wars, it at least relied on state institutions.
“Vučić does not rely on institutions, but on the criminals who have robbed them,” he said.
