The Kosovo Business Alliance expresses concern about the chaotic situation in the construction sector. Statistics show that over 75% of constructions are without occupancy permits, while over 180 apartments remain empty – most purchased by the diaspora, but unused.

This shows a significant lack of development policies and urban planning. Diaspora capital, which should have been the engine of the economy, is going into empty housing rather than into production, exports or job creation. This trend risks financial shocks and harms the long-term well-being of citizens.

“We are building empty cities, with unused housing, while youth leave every day,” the AKB’s response emphasizes.

AKB demands from the Government of Kosovo urgent steps for transparent legalization of constructions, establishment of order and orientation of diaspora capital towards production and sustainable economic development. Only in this way will new jobs be created, exports strengthened and a more sustainable future for the country ensured.

Finally, the president of AKB, Agim Shahini, appeals for vision and responsibility in Kosovo’s development policies.
