Calendar. On September 22, 1364 in Krakow, in the heart of the Kingdom of Poland, one of the most unusual events of medieval Europe took place – the famous feast at Wierzynka. This amazing meeting of European monarchs and princes was organized on the initiative of King Kazimierz III the Great, one of the most outstanding rulers in the history of Poland, known as the last king of the Piast dynasty. An opportunity to gather the nobles was not only to emphasize Poland’s prestige on the international arena, but also discussions on the current political problems of Europe, including the plans of the anti -Turkish Crusades. Lords of a great importance appeared in Krakow at the time – Emperor Karol IV Luxembourg, King of Hungary Ludwik Andegaweński, King of Cyprus Piotr and De Lusignan and the Silesian princes, Masovian and numerous dignitaries from the whole continent. This meeting showed the rank and ambitions of Casimir the Great, who cared not only about the internal development of his country, but also his strong diplomatic position. The feast, published by the rich townsman of the Krakow Mikołaj Wierzynek, was not only a symbol of generosity and hospitality, but also a manifestation of the power of Polish bourgeois culture and the growing role of Krakow as a capital of European importance. The very choice of the host was not accidental – Mikołaj Wierzynek, a merchant and councilor of Krakow, represented a class that supported the king and contributed to the economic development and prestige of the city. The legendary feast, described in the chronicles of Jan Długosz, went down in history as an event full of splendor, where the tables were bending from the greatest dishes and drinks, and the feast became not only a place of entertainment, but also diplomatic conversations about the future of Europe. This meeting also had a symbolic significance – it showed the unity of the rulers towards external challenges and emphasized the role of Poland as a host capable of conducting European initiatives. #Kazimierzwielki #cztawwieńku #kraków #historiapolski #Middle Ages #Dynastiapiastów #cesarzkaroliv #ludwiddegaweński #piotrilusignan #Mikołajwierzynek #polskahistoria #661 years
