Turkey’s tourism sector rebounded in August after three consecutive monthly declines.

    Foreign visitor numbers rose by more than 2 percent year on year to nearly 7 million in August, the Daily Sabah newspaper reported, quoting the culture and tourism ministry data.

    Arrivals were down 1.8 percent in May, 1.5 percent in June and 5 percent in July, the report said.

    Overall, foreign visitors are 1 percent lower year on year at 35.48 million in the first eight months of 2025.

    Russia was the top source market with 990,709 visitors, followed by Germany with 989,839 visitors. The United Kingdom ranked third with 638,937 travellers.

    Turkey is targeting to attract 65 million visitors and generate $64 billion in tourism revenue this year. In 2024, arrivals hit a record 52.6 million, surpassing the previous high of 49.2 million in 2023.

    Tourism contributes 10 percent to the country’s gross domestic product and supports 5 percent of total employment.
