    87 children abandoned in Kosovo over the last five years, Pristina leads with the largest number

    In the last five years alone, 87 children have been abandoned in Kosovo. This data was published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS).

    According to ASK, in 2020 there were 28 abandoned children. Meanwhile, in 2021 there were 15 children who were abandoned by their parents.

    This number decreased slightly in 2022, where the number of abandoned children was 22.

    In 2023, there were nine abandoned babies and in 2024, 23 children were abandoned.

    Pristina leads with the largest number of abandoned children. During 2024, 12 children were abandoned in Pristina, followed by Mitrovica with four cases and Prizren with three cases. Meanwhile, in Peja, two children were abandoned in 2024. And in the cities of Gjilan and Ferizaj, two children were abandoned during this year.
