Moroccan avocado exports to Switzerland reached unprecedented levels in the 2024/25 marketing year, propelling Morocco to the second-largest supplier position, according to the specialized outlet “EastFruit.”

Between July 2024 and June 2025, Morocco shipped 3,800 metric tons of avocados to Switzerland, valued at USD 12.2 million, representing a 2.7-fold increase from 2023/24.

The export volume sets a new national record, and revenue from Swiss shipments surpassed USD 10 million for the first time.

Exports typically occurred between September and May, peaking in November and February. February 2025 saw the highest monthly volume at 862 tons, capturing nearly 40% of the Swiss market. Swiss demand continues to rise, with total imports reaching 24,300 tons in 2024/25, up 14% from the previous year.

Peru remains the leading supplier of avocados to Switzerland, holding over 40% of the market. Spain, Israel, and Chile were the top exporters before Morocco’s surge. This year, Moroccan exports overtook key competitors, now representing over 15% of Switzerland’s total avocado imports.

Morocco also expanded exports to other markets, sending more than 1,000 tons to Canada in 2024/25, signaling a broader strategy to diversify its avocado trade portfolio.
