During the last 10 days of September, President Vjosa Osmani, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and Acting Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla-Schawrz stayed in the United States of America, each with a different agenda.

For political scientist Donika Emini, Kosovo’s foreign policy is currently being done ad-hoc and without any strategy for external effects, but only for internal consumption.

“We operate with an ad-hoc foreign policy, for internal political consumption. And not for external calculations. It is the personal political agenda of certain individuals in Kosovo,” she told REL.

While former ambassador Albert Prenkaj says that there is currently cacophony in foreign policy and no coordination, which has also resulted in sanctions.

“Kosovo is experiencing asphyxiation, a self-enclosure. It has lost its relevance in the international arena. It is a cacophony in foreign policy and as a result of this Kosovo has ended up under sanctions,” said Prenkaj.
