Albanian politician from North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, stated that he had been the subject of wiretapping by Macedonian security services.

He stated that these intercepts prove his commitment to voting for the Special Court with the sole purpose of bringing to light the truth about the war in Kosovo.

“I am being wiretapped by Macedonia and in those wiretaps it is clearly seen how I talk to MPs to vote for the Special Court, not so that it can deviate or create false witnesses, but so that the truth comes to light, the truth that is hidden in the yellow book,” Ahmeti told Euronews.

He stressed that he does not accept that the Kosovo Liberation Army be judged for events that, according to him, were staged by the Serbian services themselves.

“How can you judge the KLA for the Peja case, where 9 Serbs were killed? Later it turned out that it was an organization of Serbian services themselves. Just like the case of Martinović, who raped himself and accused the Albanians,” he declared.

Ali Ahmeti raised concerns that many of the accusations leveled against Albanians are part of disinformation by Serbian secret services.

He added that their goal was never to commit crimes, but to build an organized military structure for defense and liberation, which was not fully achieved due to the dynamics of the time.

“Our objective was to build the military structure, but we did not achieve this objective, because the developments were so strong that everyone acted where they wanted. We were unable to create a hierarchy for a proper army,” said Ahmeti.

While the campaign for the local elections on October 19 has begun in North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, the leader of the DUI, described these elections as an Albanian-Macedonian referendum, while taking aim at Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, saying that he cannot succeed in politics at the expense of Albanians and without respecting their legitimacy.

He said that he has called on VLEN to withdraw from the coalition with Mickoski to end the policies of degrading the Albanian issue and that he has proposed that the entire Albanian factor come together around a platform in peaceful defense of the Ohrid Agreement.

“October is the Albanian-Macedonian referendum. Hristjan cannot be successful in politics without respecting the legitimacy of the Albanian nation in North Macedonia. These policies of degrading the Albanian issue do not do any good to Hristjan Mickoski or to the Albanians he has there illegally. We have called on the VLEN parties several times to abandon the coalition and to come together around a platform in peaceful defense of the Ohrid Agreement. Successful policies are made with policies that have legitimacy, fair inclusion, consensual democracy are the basis of the Ohrid Agreement. We do not want to become the cause of crises, we want to contribute and we have the capacity to push the country forward,” he said.

Ali Ahmeti shared a detail of the meetings with Mickoski, where he said that the latter had initially proposed in a meeting that early general elections be held at the same time as the October local elections, but then changed his mind.

Ahmeti said that before these elections, the Democratic Union is very strong and supported the option of holding early general elections along with the local elections.

“The Democratic Union for Integration is much stronger. As for the parliamentary elections, they are a necessity that they take place. We talked earlier with Mr. Mickoski and we had a decision to convey the thoughts to our parties that together with the local elections, early parliamentary elections would also be held, but in the second meeting he had withdrawn and had new options. I remained with the first option that he had proposed to me, that we go to both local and general elections at the same time”, said Ali Ahmeti.
